HELLO SEGGELKE. CUSTOMISED CLARINETS BASED ON A MODULAR SYSTEM
Thomas Reichle, clarinettist, former managing director and still a valued member of DIE HOLZBLÄSER.
“I have known Jochen Seggelke for many years now and value him not only as an outstanding instrument maker, but also as a person with a special passion for what he does. His attention to detail and uncompromising commitment to quality make each of his clarinets unique.
What I particularly admire about Jochen is his openness to new ideas and his willingness to continue researching and improving. In doing so, he never loses sight of the individual wishes and needs of musicians. When talking to him, you immediately sense that he is not only concerned with the instrument, but also with the music and the people behind it. This attitude connects us and makes our long-standing collaboration something special.
It is a great privilege to be able to work with someone like Jochen Seggelke, who so authentically combines craftsmanship, heart and vision.”
Seggelke is synonymous with decades of experience
- The company, based in Bamberg, Upper Franconia, is a manufacturer specialising in the production of clarinets.
- Foundation and history: The company was founded in 1996 under the name ‘Schwenk & Seggelke’ by the two master clarinet makers Werner Schwenk and Jochen Seggelke. In 2013, Werner Schwenk left the business, which was continued by Jochen Seggelke as a sole proprietorship. In 2021, the company was renamed to its current name, ‘Seggelke Klarinetten GmbH & Co. KG’.
- Products: For Seggelke Klarinetten, clarinet making means taking historical development seriously and combining it with the requirements and possibilities of the present.
- The instruments of the Schwenk & Seggelke brand are true masterpieces that require hundreds of hours of meticulous work. The result is clarinets of the highest quality.
- The Seggelke line is a unique series prefabricated by the clarinet manufacturer F. A. Uebel according to Seggelke plans, offering three defined body variants, various mechanical features and different bores that can be combined according to individual preferences.
- Seggelke Historical Clarinets recreate the sound quality and playing feel of a specific era. It takes a great deal of care and precision to reproduce the original design features and playing technique as accurately as possible.
- Jochen Seggelke: He is the driving force behind the company. As a trained clarinetist and master clarinet maker, he brings both the musician’s and the craftsman’s perspective to the development and manufacture of the instruments.
- Awards: The company received the German Musical Instrument Award in 2013 for its Model 2000 E-flat clarinet.
